In the hunt for a fourth-consecutive Region XIV title and a return trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national tournament, the San Jacinto College volleyball team faced Wharton County Junior College in the first round of the Region XIV tournament Friday in Laredo.

The Wharton County Junior College men's and women's rodeo teams competed at Panola College in Carthage this past weekend. The women's team finished second with 158 points. Hill took the title with 265 points.

Football tickets for the East Bernard Brahmas vs. Karnes City Badgers playoff game will be on sale at each EBISD school campus starting today and running through noon on Friday, Nov. 21. Tickets for adults are $6 and students are $4. All tickets at the gate are $6. There will be a parking fee of $3. East Bernard is the visiting team.

The Wharton County 4-H Exchange Group will be selling red poinsettias for $12 through today. They will arrive on Nov. 24. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward the group's trip to Pennsylvania this summer. To order, call the Wharton County Extension Office at 532-3371.

Plaza Live presents Texas songwriters Cody Hughes Davidson and Zach Huckabee tonight at the Plaza Theatre on the Square. The box office opens at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online at www.whartonplazatheatre. org or at the door.
